Vendor has reviewed majority of logs and chain of events. They are still working through a few final checks before clearing equipment for return to service. Will be monitoring equipment into next week as well for stability.

An event internal to the equipment occurred at approximately 3AM MST this morning resulting in the resolution of the issue. Currently working with the vendor to understand the behavior and ensure will not surface again.

Completed software update to OTN which did not resolve degradation issues with south path. Working with vendor to continue to troubleshoot.

After consultation with the hardware vendor, it was determined the underlying issue to be a known bug that surfaced on the current software version. A change will be scheduled to update to the latest software version shortly.

Attempts at repairs of the edge router were not successful. Continuing to troubleshoot.

A DCX edge router was found to be suffering from hardware failure coupled with incorrect configuration on a redundant edge router resulted in the service disruption. Configuration on the redundant edge router has been corrected and service has been restored although redundancy is in a reduced state. Will continue to troubleshoot the problematic edge router.

Alerts have been received indicating that the DCX internet fabric is seeing intermittent connectivity resulting in service disruption.

The dark fiber provider for the DCX OTN has a planned maintenance that will be impactful to the DCX OTN south route. They have indicated that during the change window, it is expected that services will be be impacted for up to the length of the maintenance window. If you have services that currently utilize the DCX OTN south path, it is advised to fail traffic to another non-impacted route during the change window.

EMERGENCY - DCX OTN Software UpdatePlanned Maintenance

Description

DCX will be performing a software update on DCX OTN in order to resolve a rare bug that surfaced from a recent event causing the south route to be degraded. The software update will occur across the entire system. Typically software updates are non-impactful to the system but due to some underlying changes between the current software revision and latest, the update is expected to cause up to a 30 minute outage on both the north and south routes.
